Obamaphilia response
Joel,
Wow! Your article about Obamania and those who follow Barack with blind
faith could not be further off. First, let me begin by disclosing that I?m a 30
year old political-junkie-for-years white male, Chicago resident who has
been a staunch Kucinich supporter, but after his exit I have decided to
support (and vote for) Barack Obama. (check out my articles on the upcoming
new blog site at: http://rafterjumpon.com/whos_on_board.php5?

I, like you, thought Obama was (and is) a politician at heart. What?s exciting
about Obama, however, is the energy and life he is bringing to politics. Na?ve
as they may be, hundreds of thousands of citizens are getting involved in
their government as they never have before; that is the most important
headline of this entire race. To deny or scorn this entire group for getting
involved because they were motivated by someone illustrates your complete
disregard and disrespect for the principles of democracy.
Your focus should have been on the fact that ?as a politician? Obama has set a
very high bar for himself and should he fail to make good on these promises
of hope or fulfill this promise to give the government back to the people,
hundreds and thousands of citizens will be newly disillusioned and
disenfranchised with their government. Given the age group of Obama?s
following (youth), one could even argue that an President Obama failure to
deliver could disenfranchise an entire generation of voters for a very long
time.
